The proprietor of Omotayo College, Ogijo, Shagamu, Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, Engineer Tayo Opanubi recently honoured 14 of his students for being exceptional and displaying academic excellence.

He also urged parents to join the fight against examination malpractices which has become a big problem ailing the educational sector.

He stated this during the graduating ceremony of the school recently, at which the traditional ruler of Ogijo, Oba Ganiyu Dosumu, Pastor Sanya Dapo, Dr Kunle Aina Badejo, the chairman of the PTA, were guests.

The Principal of the school, Mr Chike Okeome, who gave the valedictory speech, said students of Omotayo College have always worked hard to make the school proud.

Engineer Opanubi said the school was officially inaugurated in September 2006 with 30 students and has continued to grow in strength, number and knowledge, with over 240 students today.

“In my view, this is still not the ultimate. There is still room for us to grow the school,” adding that the school wanted to expand its frontiers by creating more schools in Nigeria and in the West Africa sub-region.

The school’s Administrator, Engineer Omotayo reiterated the college’s zero tolerance for examination malpractices. He added that Omotayo College would not engage in it or associate with those who engage in the act.

He urged parents to join hands with the school to fight exam malpractices, “which is endemic in our society. We must teach our students that there is no other way to successs except through diligent and genuine personal efforts,” Omotayo added.
