A nationwide prayer session was held on Wednesday by the workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) against government's plan to privatise the company.

This prayer session was led by the president of the workers' union, Monzor Musa along with the secretary, Joe Ajaero.

The workers went on to pray that all their severance pay packages be met just in case the prayer against the privatization is not answered.

The union leaders are to meet with the federal government team on February, 18, 2012 to decide on the final pay off of the workers.

The National Financial Secretary of PHCN workers union, Oluranti Christopher Abodunde said, "the prayer point of the electricity workers centres on payment of their entitlements, whenever they are disengaged from the services of PHCN to pave way for the company's privatisation".

Musa also recommended that workers should organize a prayer session in every state of the federation.
