Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has signed a one-year extension to his contract at Old Trafford.
The 38-year-old, who has never played for another club, will now stay with the Barclays Premier League champions until the end of the 2012-13 season.
Giggs made his United debut in March 1991 and has helped the Red Devils win 12 League titles, two Champions League trophies and several other honours over the past 21 years.
He told the club's official website: "When I signed my first contract, I never thought I'd be able to play at United for 22 years, but I feel good and I know I can still contribute to keeping the team pushing for honours.
"Winning the club's 19th title [last season] was a great feeling but this club is all about what we do next and I'm really pleased I can be part of that."
Giggs is United's record appearance-maker on 898 and he has scored 162 goals during that time, putting him ninth on the club's all-time list.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has used Giggs in 16 Barclays Premier League matches this season, could not hide his delight at the Welshman renewing his deal.
"Ryan is a marvellous player," said the Scot. "In many ways, he epitomises all my teams here at United: he has constantly re-invented himself, adapted to the changing nature of the game and retained that desire and hunger for success.
"In every training session and match, he is the example for others to follow. The young players in the dressing room have a great chance to learn from a player who will continue to break records that anyone in the game will find hard to beat."
Giggs is the most decorated footballer in the history of the English domestic game and was named PFA Players' Player of the Year for 2008-09.
